HI GUYS........ Sorry it's been so long between drinks, communicatively speaking!!! Hope you all had fabulous and safe festive season and I trust 2010 is an absolute cracker for all of you...... and me too!
To those friends and acquaintances who've check in to say 'Hi'...... A big hello back to you all. And to those folk who've just dropped by or stumbled across us..... hello to you too!!! Oh.... and Laura I totally forgot to send that music, what a numpty, I'll get on to that. And Maria..... you girls made my day too!!!!!
Well, 2009 was a stupidly busy year for me and 2010 is gonna be pretty much more of the same. I'm certainly not complaining, I am always grateful. 2009, brought some sadness too. For those of you who have followed my curious n' colorful career, you'd be aware that I had a band in Britain in the 1990's called 'The Culprits'. We released an album on Roadrunner Records (surely the least heavy band ever to appear on that fabulously hard rockin' label) and enjoyed some exceptionally fun touring. The band was comprised of myself on guitar, Dan Farrant on drums and Mark Smith on bass. Mark and I had first met in December 1989 when I was writing and 'demo-ing' an album in London. We hit it off immediately becoming firm friends and ultimately musical 'brothers in arms' too, producing the 'culprits' record and getting involved in many other varied projects along the way. Mark was an exceptional musician. Truly. He'd worked with everyone. And he was an exceptional human being. Top shelf! A blue ribbon bloke.
You've probably worked out what I'm on about......... sadly we lost Mark late last year. He died at his flat where I'd spent countless days with him, laughing, writing, laughing, recording, laughing and drinking endless cups of tea. Anyway, rifling through my archives in Australia over the christmas period I uncovered a box of 'demos' that Mark and I recorded in 1999. They are very basic, consisting of guide acoustic guitar, a guide vocal, a guide guitar solo, Marks great bass playing and, on some tracks, a drum program. I have started 'finishing them off' as a way of paying tribute to someone I loved very much. So in a few days I will send to Mark Fell-Crook at the site a song called 'I'm on your side'. Again the demo was very basic, I've added Hammond Organ, piano, some more guitar, doubled the guide solo, thrown in some backing vocals and a few tricks here n' there. I was restricted somewhat by the original demo recording but hey...... I know 'Smithy' would get a kick out of it. And I hope you guys do too.
Well, I've waffled enough for now. As always thanks for droppin' by, you never cease to amaze me! Lots n' lots of love........... Craig. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
